Has Steve been permanently banned? Seems like the only thing that makes sense at this point with as long as he's been gone.

Maybe I don't know all the details but a month+ ban for what happened seems like a punishment that is disproportionate to the crime.

I've seen at least one member get banned for only two weeks that said much worse than Steve did.

I and others have said this several times: The mods can not alter the situation, it is not in our tools or duties to consider to do so. The forum is not a democracy nor vote driven by any other than the administration, their decision is final whatever it may be, and they do not make frivolous decisions in my opinion, whatever it is, we have to live with it on the forum. Finally, only they know all of the bases of their decision. If you stay within the rules, I do not feel that there would be any problem making your requests by PM or a calm thread in general discussion, but you will not get any info about any other member than yourself and most likely would not make a change.
As many of you have seen, the Ancients forum members have reported 'rumors' that the person under discussion may have been on the forum under a different ID. This is not unusual, but it is a severe violation and leads to permanent ban if confirmed. The administrators have a more complete and more sophisticated control panel and can see deeper into the net than we mods can. Remember that it is a point system leading to a ban for a normal member, but if it is a scammer or worse, the first infraction may be a permanent one. Keep doing the coins you normally do and continue the excellent reputation of the ancient forum as a whole is my suggestion. Use PM and General Discussion forum as they are intended . Jim

Thanks for explaining that to us Jim.

Having been on many forums of many types this is my favorite. Nice people and well moderated.

I am not sure what he did to get banned or how long his banning is ? Many of us want him back... me included. I miss his funny coin humor and seeing his new Canadian coins. please give him an early parole. thank you CT.

Why exactly is that? This is not a case of a single member of the forum making such a request but obviously quite a few prominent members of the Ancients forum expressing that the forum is not the same without him. Many of these members are "supporters" and Steve himself was also one, so this is not a case of some random spammer but a member who was very involved and donated money to keep the forum afloat and was an integral part of the Ancients forum, occasional rule-breaker or not. If the moderators and administrators are going to ignore this and ignore the wishes of most of the members of the Ancients forum that is their choice, but I urge you to reconsider.

Without Steve here or at least some idea of when we can expect to see him return I see no reason to continue renewing my supporter status and will be letting it lapse when it comes up for renewal in August. I suggest others who want to see Steve return do the same. I see no reason to pay close to $30 per year for a forum whose moderators don't care about the members' opinions.

Nailed it. Super-Great people here, but we need all facets of personalities to participate. I feel the site is not "whole" at the moment!!!

How is this being ignored? What you may really mean is that the staff is doing what the established rules have asked since they were written, and if that doesn't agree with what the members want, they should be changed? As I implied, I don't expect that to happen, and that is what I was indicating. The mods do not get to revise the rules, believe me that, and that is fairest to all. Being a supporter is not buying a membership to vote on leaders or rules, it is for supporting a forum that provides as safe a place as we can make it for everyone , to provide a forum where expertise can be expected and shared , and where all have to be civil in comments and expression. We have a tremendous number of great people here and I hope all of you stay to improve the forum under the current guidelines. Please note that I am speaking for myself, as all of us do. Jim

Thank you Jim for taking the time to respond to the above concerns. If the mods are unable to influence a decision on Steve's behalf can you please advise on a way to appeal directly to the administration?

There are several members on here whose absence would be bad for our sense of community and Steve is certainly one of them.

To be honest, I do not know , but I have read each posting from them on the forum, and have a fair idea of their mindset. Don't bother with pressure or innuendoes, these are strong and fair personalities. Since the feeling among all of us is to not share anything about other members, I would assume it would have to be the member ( steve) reaching out by email or other means to them. I have been "corrected" a couple of time over the years, so I am guessing at this. I believe in the rules very strongly as they are and would not to see them changed for ME or anyone.

I understand that the rules need to be followed. I am just wondering how long he will be banned for ? and which rules did he break so the rest of us will know not to do the same thing. I really like CT and my thoughts are wanting him back soon. Stevex6 has an interesting view of coins and coin humor that is not like any other member here on CT making it fun to collect coins. hoping for his return soon. I know that message "don't do the crime if you can't do the time". thanks for reading this. my account upgrade just now expired. I will renew it next payday for $30.00 a year. This is a great place to come to everyday.

Of course he can't, he isn't a member at this time. Even though it is the Ancient section, I thought Steve knew about the internet,o_O I would search Twitter and work out something to hook up, maybe throw away gmail addresses or something. Jim
