To complete a couple of Lincoln cent sets I need to get uncirculated P and D and S-proofs of Lincoln cents from 1992 to the present. Several dealers sell "update sets" with the 2007 coins, but none of them seem to have the older ones. Is there any place to get these coins without trying to buy them one at a time in auctions? None of them is particularly valuable but it could cost quite a bit to get them that way.
This is a good question. I think with time we will see someone or some companies providing the possibility to buy a few low cost coins at reasonable prices. Right now, if I want a 1957 Nickel, a 1949-D roosy, a 1993-P lincoln --> there really isn't a "one-stop" place to do this. I'd love to see a web site where you could order these, pay a reasonable shipping fee and have them in your mailbox a couple days later. It'll happen, with time...
When I first saw your post title, I was going to sugest a used car lot. Guess thats not what you're looking for though. Guy~
There are several dealers who will provide later date coins but their prices will take your breath away. It's difficult to find good quality on many of these and most of the sellers do try to ship nice quality. Don't expect gems, this is an expensive service and really good quality mod- erns are tough to stock. The biggest dealers of these are Silvertowne and Littleton. You can get a far better price by ordering complete sets and just spending the coins you don't want but the quality on these tends to be spotty at best.
That actually might be the best way to go. I have received a few PM's from dealers who say they have what I need. I'll see what the prices are. I did see someone offering a complete set of S-mint cents from 1968 to the present. I don't need all of them, but I could just swap them with some of the ones I have if they are better.
