Slow day around here today. How about a GTG?

Not my coin for the record.

This is a tough one. Rather weak strike. Going out on a limb.......PF

He probably has several, so he would be the go to guy.

Not very good at grading Morgans, but PF63?

I don't see a chance of the surfaces being deemed "original," so it's an Impaired Proof (assuming authenticity). Can't decide if it's circulated from these pics or not, but given the surfaces I assume it has.

I think he was saying Environmental Damage, but I like your answer too!

I didn't think of that, but you're probably right.

A genuine mess of a coin. Environmental.

That poor proof; PR details, environmental damage. I'd still take it though.

That is quite literally the nastiest looking proof I have ever seen.

Well that was fun. Pretty much nailed out of the gate. I enjoyed being able to hold it and admire its rarity.

The owner said it was salvaged from a fire and to his knowledge was sent for conservation.

    PCGS saw some wear,

That was really weird. I'm wondering how that coin got in that shape?

Could have been buried in dirt, or ashes (as Steve said it was in a fire).
    Kind of a shame, actually.

Yeah it does suck, seeing such a beautiful rare coin burnt up or whatever. Although, it does make for a good story.

    That's plausible.

    Just imagine - it's still a five-figure coin....

I didn't know just how valuable this coin was... Even a PF60 is worth more than my education :dead:

If the surfaces were original it'd take you $35-40k to own it in AU grade.
