So yesterday was my birthday and I'm really itching to get a coin. I feel like my collection has grown "stale" as i havent bought anything in a while. Anyone have any suggestions for coins that wont break the bank but still are "cool"? Currently the only set im working on is my type set, but I also really like/ want an error coin. I have such a hard time pulling the trigger on coin purchases.... I want something that isn't junk. Yes I could buy a cull seated liberty half but I just wouldn't be like "proud of it". I think XF 40 is the lowest grade I'd be looking for, but all suggestions are helpful.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jason

I see the 2 cent slot and 3 cent nickel slot are empty, they can be had in decent condition for not a lot of money and are quite interesting.

I would go for the FE cent.

I think the FE cent is arguably the most beautiful coin the US ever made.

I like the way you think. I would rather save up for something I like that looks nice.

Thanks, but I didn't always used to think this way. I own 2 and 3 cent coins as someone suggested but they're basically culls. Finally realized that this is the mindset to be in.

I looked through my binders and found my FE cent. Nearly forgot about it. I didn't put it in because it's a VF but I've changed my mind, it looks nice enough for the album.

I bought this type album long ago. I even bought an off brand Dansco (I really wanted Dansco but it was out of budget). The album has grown on my though, I was never dissatisfied with it however.

Nice to see a type set in progress. Fun stuff. Brings back fond memories of the Dansco-7070 sets I built in the 1990s.

I think the green Littleton album is handsome, but boo at them for allowing that misspelling ("Peace Metal" [sic] instead of "Peace Medal") to slip by.

Your Flyer cent looks good. Something about those CuNi cents - they look good in just about any grade above G4, with the midgrade circs usually having an appealing color.

I just got a pretty good looking off-center BU Jefferson in a swap, if you want an error coin that definitely won't break the bank. It's maybe 10% o/c, as I recall, so noticeably an error but still mostly round. I'm not sure it would fit in the slot for the type album, though.

Me looking for error coins is separate from the type album stuff, so it wasn't intended for it. Although it would be interesting to make a whole type set out of error coins... a project for another day! I wonder if anyone has ever done that before...

I got a 1937 half dollar for about $125 which is in my 7070. It is a VF-30 but is quite nice. It takes care of the reeded edge slot.

That and, in my opinion, the Draped Bust Dollar.

Gee, that's pretty steep for a VF30 1937 Walking Liberty half!

J/k- I know that was a typo in the date. 1837 RE half. Gotcha. Just made me go, "huh?" for a sec. ;)

A nice flying eagle cent is always cool.
