Search 'em or Sell 'em: 2009 Lincoln and 2005/6 Jefferson rolls purchased from the US Mint?

Is there a better or worse chance of finding errors or condition rarities in rolls from the Mint?

It's kind of a gamble. How valuable are the possible errors? If not that terribly valuable, then you can probably get more by keeping them intact.

If it were me, it would be worth it to open the Washington Prez dollars to look for "Missing Edge Lettering". It's only $50 face value, but one coin missing the edge lettering could be worth a minimum of 4-5 times face value. I sold one missing partial edge lettering a few years ago for $228.

i would open and search any roll where there is a known error, i've found a lot in mint rolls, got over 4 dozen formative years DDR's from mint rolls, also ocean in view DDR's, and the 2005 D could have a "speared bison", yea, ok i'd search em all...:D

The more that are opened and searched the fewer there are left wrapped. I've got literally 100's and 100's of original rolls mostly cents back to the 50's I don't open them because I can't see well enough to find some of the errors. Search or not it's what makes you happy there's no definitive answer to this perplexing conundrum.

Yeah I'd have to peel them open myself. If I sold them as is id feel like I did my CRH bug a disservice.

I thought I could see well until I got hold of a binocular microscope. This thing saved my sanity, and preserves my sight.

I saw what looked like some 2009-P Lincoln Cent rolls. This one is the lowest mintage of the series, for what that is worth to you. :)

Now if that get up came with a camera, then I would love to have one of those, might help me and others to take close-ups to post here.

Seek and ye shall find. If memory serves me, a few guys here have/use them with cameras (@cpm9ball ?), so I'm sure you can learn more of the soecifif you care to search past threads.

You can find scope cams on Amazon around $40 that give a decent picture. Stereo microscopes are nice but a scope can makes it too easy to screenshot and send.

There are stereomicroscopes with zoom capability available that take very good close-ups........

The problem with them is that you must continually remove the camera attachment from one of the eyepieces to arrange and focus the subject.

A much better alternative to the binocular system is a trinocular stereomicroscope that has a dedicated eyepiece for the camera. This allows the user to arrange the subject without ever removing the camera attachment.

Or taking them out, then submitting them to a grading service, the top pop ones at least. Only ones that could make 67/68.

That isn't a clash. It is a die gouge on a 1878-CC Morgan.

Those coins are worthless. (face value)
You will make out much better selling them in original mint wrappers.

If you have a 78-S Morgan, why don't you look at her cheek and see if you have one with a space capsule from the Mercury Space Program.:)
