I'm just wondering if someone good give me an idea of where it would fall on the grading scale. I'm assuming it would be the lowest. Thanks [IMG][IMG]

Not sure on grade. Just wanted to say it would help if you trimmed your photos to just the coin.

On another note. Where the heck did you get an 1882 Seated Liberty Dime as change? Did you ask if they had any other dimes like this in their drawer?

No, that's not the lowest grade.

Here are the Seated dime grades on PCGS Photograde.

(When you open the page, you'll see the top grades. Scroll back to the left to see the lower grades.)

Your coin has strong VG details on the obverse (I'd say VG10, but only on that side - the reverse looks weaker).

That is of course only a details grade. This one is a "problem" coin due to the scratch on the obverse.

Nevertheless, if you found that in circulation, that's a truly amazing find!

It's likely worth ten bucks or less as-is *, but to have gotten a 135-year-old dime for ten cents in modern change is nothing short of remarkable. That quite outdoes my most interesting circulation finds.

I agree with @MontCollector - you need to go back to that store or whatever it was, tell the cashier you got an interesting dime in change there (but don't go into too much detail with the story), and say you'd like to know what others might be in the drawer.

I took the photos on my phone through the Tapatalk app. Trimming photos doesn't seem to be an option sorry. I aimed for good detail over anything else.

I domt remember what store exactly and didn't notice until I was about to throw the change in my change jar. I heard a strange sounding coin and checked and that's what it was.

Well, I say again: that's amazing. If you make another lucky find soon, you should rush out and buy a lottery ticket, because they say lucky things come in threes!

*Dear snobby mystery lurker who is about to log on just to scoff at me: I can read your thoughts. Yes, that was superstitious nonsense I just posted. Yes, lottery tickets are "a tax on people who are bad at math". I hear you. Now shut up.

Its blurry, but the shield is a wear point, and this one has details showing.

The obverse is nice, but the reverse is fried and makes it details.

Who cares about grade when a 135-year old coin walks in the door!:D
