Hey guys so I just joined here. I inherited a whole bunch of coins but took a picture of a few. There are many rolls of silver coins but here are some individual coins and older books.
I'll probably keep the 20 or so books but I'm not a collector and would like to get rid of some of the stuff. I have many rolls of kennedy half dollar and mercury dimes. Anything worth selling?
Some may be worth face value Others worth their silver value Others maybe more As you can guess it would require some extreme detail of each coin to know other than a generic statement.
I remember the day when the 1916D Mercury dime knockout was still intact. No one ever expected to be able to get one, including the makers of the boards.
What information do you need? I read up on grading coins but it seems difficult. I'm not familiar with all this stuff
Or if you did, you were expected to spring for one of the fancy albums with plastic sliders, instead of jamming it into a friction-fit cardboard slot. Now, of course, you're expected to buy and keep it in a slab, lest you accidentally (heaven forbid) touch it. (Or more to the point for a 1916-D, find out that it's counterfeit.)
You could start with a simple list of type, date, and mint just for the ease of weeding out lesser coins and/or possibilities, but to be thorough, you'd need to post clear obv/rev (front and back) photos of each coin.
There are several trustworthy folks on this site who can help guide you. Biggest thing in asking "what's it worth" is including Obverse and Reverse pictures of the coin(s). There is also a For Sale area where you can post what you want to sell. I spend a ton of time there looking to purchase.
I'm going wayyy back Jeff, like 1966. I think the folders might have been less than a fifty cent piece and I don't remember any albums at that point. Certainly no TPG's back then either. Simpler grading and no Sheldon system. I would have to give up getting two or three 12 cent cover comic books each time I got the next folder. One summer, no comics or coins as it took me all summer to save my paper route money to get my first Banana seat Spyder bike. Anyone remember those? $30.00 out the door and assembled. Then came decking it out with a bell, battery operated headlight and tassles. Choices, choices.
Yes, and like it was yesterday. Ahh... the good ole days when kids actually did things with other kids, used their imaginations, and even, once in a while, actually played.... outside!
