Hey everyone I picked this O/CC up at a pawn shop yesterday for $15. I had no idea if it was an O/CC or not but for $15 it was worth it. Turns out it's a Vam-10A unfortunately not the Vam-10 but nonetheless still cool. I feel like this should grade nicely. Sorry if my pictures are bad. The capsule makes it hard, the chest feathers are all there no wear, the light is right on em. Also, the capsule shows scratches but they aren't on the coin so it's hard. I want to say MS on this but I really don't know! The coin looks just like if not better than two MS 62 NGC Morgans I have.
No, not quite MS. I agree with those who said AU58. Look at the strands of hair right over Liberty's ear. Definite rub there. That being said, there is no way you can lose on that. I'm astonished a pawn shop would sell it so cheaply. That's not too much over melt price! @Paddy54 said "two thumbs up". I say three thumbs up!
I'll go AU-58. Great find and price. I once got an AU 42/1 Mercury for sixty cents at a pawn shop; the best purchase I've ever made.
Awesome find and super price! My very 1st silver $ purchase for $29 was a 1900 O/CC VAM 8A MS 63, had no clue when I bought it and never heard of a VAM in my life. I bought it cause it was Purdy and shiny.....hooked on VAM's every since Again, congrats on a super find!
58 or 62/3 doesn't really matter. Either way you cut it you scored bigly! And welcome to VAMs. You just got hooked. It's time to join the message board at www.VamWorld.com
I would say 55 on the grade. Too much wear on the breast feathers to be a higher grade, IMO. As for the price, it was a steal! Everything I've ever looked at pawn shops or antique malls has been wildly overpriced. And usually badly cleaned.
I hate to put in a pin in this, and of course I could be wrong but the grainy surface combined with to the too good to be true price of $15 makes me wonder if it's counterfeit... Have we done any testing with a magnate?
