I found this the other day while metal detecting. It was about 3 inches under ground (on a baseball field) I've never seen this kind of coin before can anyone tell me what it js
Oh. Okay thank you for the information. I will try to go there with my grandkids when they get a little older
I used to have one of those, found in a bulk coin lot. I kept it for a while and then threw it in the trash as I knew I would never frequent the place. Perhaps you found it.
Well, they're obsolete now, apparently. A Chuck E. Cheese token used to be synonymous with "worthless", but if I dug one while detecting, it would go into my "cheaper keeper" jar with the Wheaties, modern foreign and tokens, and pre-1960 nonsilver Jeffs. (I spend the modern face-value stuff if it ain't too nasty, and put the better stuff in an album, but the middle ground is that "cheaper keeper" jar.)
I have a hand full of those laying around when I used to take my kids to Chuck E Cheese. There's not that many around anymore. ==> https://www.chuckecheese.com/
They have a coupon in the paper here every other week for a number of tokens free if you buy a certain number. They have video games and birthday parties They are one of the last of the large video game pizza places. Never could figure out one of the other national ones tag line Jeepers, they also had smaller carnival rides in doors, It is "Fun, Food and a monkey" Don't know if they ever had a live monkey in the joint. But never made us want to take the kids or grand kid there. With the advent of the internet it appears the locations in Michigan had poor quality food under cooked pizza etc. They are following in Little Ceasar's in closing one by one in a slow death sprial MOst of the newer date ones go for a quarter in the bargain bins and the older dates .50 to $1.00
Don't do it! Chuck E. Cheese is a migraine inducing nightmare. And icky pizza to boot. I can't believe they are still in business.
Hang on to the tokens because it looks like they are phasing them out. Last time we took our kids there they used stored value cards instead of tokens. And yes, the pizza leaves a lot to be desired and the sound of multiple video games isn't easy on the nerves.
Some Chuck E. Cheese tokens are valuable to collectors as they have the city of issue on them. Chuck E. Cheese Pinole California 1981 Token Brass, 25mm, 5.32gm Obverse: Rat's head - PIZZA TIME THEATRE / CHUCK E. CHEESE / PINOLE, CA. Reverse: IN PIZZA WE TRUST / 25c PLAY VALUE / 1981
I'm partial to the ShowBiz Pizza varieties myself... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShowBiz_Pizza_Place
