I can see another dark ages coming along. When the Rpmans left Brittain, we eventually lost knowledge that lead water pipes were not a good idea. We lost central heating for homes and double glazed windows. Nowadays "apprenticeships" are not what they were. Not even close. When did you last hear of an apprentice who was sent for a "bucket of steam" or a "long stand". And, in around 25 years, and we have run out of the rare metals that are used to make mobile phones and "smart" stuff, I hope we have enough mental institutions to house a couple of distraught generations who won't know how to cope.......
I knew Western Civilization was doomed when the "History" Channel started running that stupid Swamp People show about Cajun 'gator hunters, and even before that, when MTV stopped playing music videos and started the trend towards imbecilic "reality" shows. Oh. And people put pineapple on pizza. And the odometer on my car will read 66666 later today. Here's a handbasket. Climb inside. You know where we're headed.
hey I like pineapple! but this reminds me of Perikles “What you leave behind isnt what's engraved in stone monuments, but what is embedded into the lives of others.”
I like pineapple, too, but baking it on a hot pizza is an abomination against nature. Like the TLC television channel. "What you leave behind isnt what's engraved in stone monuments, but what is embedded into the lives of others." Unless you're a bartender by trade. Then your life's work is embedded into the livers of others. Eh, what's that you said? Right. Sorry. As you were, then.
This is called "The Digital Dark Age." Really makes you stop and wonder, doesn't it? http://bigthink.com/ideafeed/google-vp-warns-we-may-lose-all-memory-of-21st-century
Thanks to all that gave this a shot! Looks like Roman Collector got it right on the head here. Definitely makes sense since authors dedicate books to people they know all the time. I was initially thinking it was a wise ancient saying or something.
