Ya I have a 1982 Penny that the liberty is spell with a V and not a T libervy have you seen others or heard of any thing else on this?
Hey Paddyman how you doing this morning, just out of curiosity and I know you're very very very good at what you do. Though how can you base that decision without any type of pic, am I missing something on that and believe me this is not criticism I respect you and I know you're very very good. And the only reason I'm asking is because being a new member he sees that he automatically will assume that the coins no good. I have done that on a couple of coins and not you in particular but there was a couple guys on here that was wrong. I took the coin to a dealer over in Tulsa it wasn't a valuable coin it was worth about a hundred bucks but it was one that I was going to throw in the bucket but I just had a feeling. And of course your statement was most likely without a pic you couldn't see it. And with all that being said I just want to thank you because you have been a big help to me and I do appreciate it thank you. And again I hope you do not take that out of context.
First thanks Simple... The word LIBERTY is created on the Die exactly the same way all the time. The Mint would not use a letter V instead of a T. I have seen dozens of examples over the decades of letters on Copper Cents that have taken hits and make make them look differently. I am sure that if the OP does post a picture it won't even look like a normal letter V, but some distorted shape that's similar to a V
Did he get worse as you were typing? In the first sentence he was very very very good and by the time you got around to the second sentence he's only very very good. Now which is it? I demand to know!
My whole point to that and I should have just kept my mouth shut, just like the comment that other guy just made. not everybody on here is an expert like you they come on here they tell you your coins worthless and when your new like I was I don't know any better. now after being on here awhile then I know you no what you're talking about. but the average new person that joins does not know. And again my apologies I should have kept my mouth shut but I'll give you very very very very good at what you do.
Now as for you fast Eddie, I noticed that you didn't post anything positive. for the new person about their coin you didn't give your opinion the only opinion you had was being a smart _ _ _ about my comments it's guys like you that usually give bad advice and the new people like me end up throwing them in the bucket. you're more concerned about being a sarcastic smart _ _ _ then you are in helping. Well then again you probably don't have anything else to do LOL.
I really don't mind the questions. New members should ask anything they want. I will always do my best to answer especially when many don't have the knowledge. But hey...please don't let eddiespin comments bother you. Him and I have been on here for a long time and we are always willing to help. Sometimes people consider us obnoxious but don't take things so serious. Peace
Oh none of that comment was directed at you, and I didn't take anything he said personally. I just didn't understand why he didn't offer his opinion he was more concerned about what I had said to you. And I don't think he's a bad guy I see him on here a lot and I know he likes to tease people. But normally I just keep my mouth shut because some of the times if you make any comments, I've seen new people make comments those people that really do have a lot of experience if they're question will not help them again so that's why I usually keep my mouth shut.
I noticed that you didn't post anything positive about the coin, either. Maybe it is because there is no photo. So, why should you be in such a hurry to admonish someone else? Well, like @paddyman98 , I've seen hundreds and hundreds of similar coins posted on these forums over the last 7 years that were thought to be mint errors when all they were was just PMD. When the OP provides a reasonable description of what is seen on the coin, then it seems only natural that someone knowledgeable with this sort of damage would be able to chime in with their opinion. You might also ask yourself, "If this really was a mint error, then why isn't there tens of thousands of the same coin in circulation?" It wouldn't make sense that the Mint would strike just one. Would it? Oh, by the way, just like others who have posted Lincoln cents with the "T" of LIBERTY damaged to look like a "Y", this so-called "T that looks like a V" is also PMD in my opinion. No offense intended toward @Rodney Peterson . It's all part of the learning experience. Chris PS. How about posting a link to the thread about your $100 coin. I don't recall the subject.
And Chris you're one of those guys always button their nose into somebody else's business, no comment was ever made to you. You remind me of a little girl in high school on the cheerleader Squad always button their nose into somebody else's business. You've done this to me before and you're doing it again and you do it other people all the time. I always treat everybody on this site with nothing but respect, and if the guy would have posted a pic I would have took a shot at it and gave him my personal opinion.
Ha ha! I knew you'd whine about me. You treat everybody with respect? What did you just do to @eddiespin ? You're a punk, and I don't need _ _ (dashes) to say so. No, you inserted your opinion of someone else without even offering an opinion about the coin. I only do it to people who deserve it, but when I make a mistake, I'm at least man enough to admit it. That's more than I can say about you. Chris
Turn out the lights, the sand box got muddy! Rodney, your coin is going to be Post Mint Damage. Welcome, and for confirmation from the experts, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Welcome Rodney, wow that was a bit uncomfortable hee hee hee, but it's all good now. Only good guys are left to help you......
I highly doubt that a USA coin would ever be miss spelled unless they were minting for another country. And even then I highly doubt it would ever happen ( I think no heard about a miss spelled coin but it was foreign). The only thing that it can be is a bie cent. No need for a picture because miss spelled words on USA coins are impossible. If it were possible, I'd say I would hear a lot about a coin like that haha.
