dime with no date

    It has had a hard life. Sometimes referred to as PMD or post minting damage.

    Actually, that wasn't original. I borrowed the pic from somebody else's meme.

    The coin definitely looks like it suffered a woodpecker attack. That's the first thing that came to my mind. I wonder what did that. I've seen "peckmark" damage like this before, but don't know what caused it.

    Can you take a picture of the rim please? I would like to see if it is silver.

    It's silver. Color alone indicates that. Besides, there's no copper core peeking out from beneath the axe wounds and woodpecker dents. ;)

    So at least it's worth a buck-fifteen melt value as of this post.

    It's a 1946-64 silver Roosie.
