It doesn't look as distinct as the gouge on VAM 1E or VAM 1K. This is a popular place for a vertical scrape mark on the die. The obverse die for the 1922-35 Peace dollar was the anvil die, and the feed fingers that push the struck coins out of the press periodically scraped the die in this location.
