The mail brought my only LEU auction win today. It's very nice in hand (helping justify the price some ), but it is very glossy so it didn't photograph well for me. Constantius II Antioch 25 mm, 5.67 g, 12 h) obverse D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right; reverse FEL TEMP-REPARATIO, Gamma in left, soldier spearing Horseman, hair in braids, bearded, reaching back towards soldier, horses hoof over exerg. line ANB Antioch 122 The auction pic is much better, but makes it look more flat.
Exceptional coin but I probably don't want to know the price. Now you need the AMB of the same quality.
Thanks all That was kind of a long wait, though I kind of expect coins going through LA customs to be long. I got it for the opening bid, that was fine, just all the other fees an such made it hurt a little. I don't think I'd get and AMB for the opening bid, but I can hope for one. Maybe @TIF can photo shop this one for my til I find one.
Nice coin, randy. That jet black patina is a nightmare to photograph but must be awfully sweet in hand. I just picked up my package half an hour ago. It looks like everyone's Leu 1 goodies are starting to arrive.
Actually, I think your picture is better than the auction house's. It brings out more of the detail. Your post reminded me that I am still awaiting awaiting arrival of my win from the LEU auction. They sent me a tracking notice according to which it was delivered to german customs on the 6th July. One week ago. According to LEU it can take customs up to 3 weeks to process the letter.....great, 3-4 weeks to travel form Switzerland to Germany.
Thanks all I took more pics using other techniques (like using toilet paper to defuse light ) to see if I could improve but first pic still seems to work best. Hopefully you won't all wont have to wait much longer for your winnings.
HAAAaaayyy @randygeki ! I have a Speared Horseman from Contantius II ALSO! RI Constantius II 337-361 CE AE 2 Soldier spearing downed horseman
That's a wonderful looking coin. I think that your image gives the coin more life than the seller images. I have looked at them on a variety of devices. On my laptop I cannot fault your photo at all.
