I recently got this beautiful coin from @lordmarcovan ‘s generous “wake up the world coins forum” give away. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/wa...rum-aka-i-cant-stop-giving-stuff-away.297947/ I only just received this piece and it is already one of my favorite world coins in my collection! Feel free to join in. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/game-world-coins-time-machine…-counting-backward-by-year-plus-prize-coin.298151/page-32#post-2794035 Please post coins that you have received as part of a gift (including from friends and relatives), trade, contests ect. All coin and currency types welcome from ancient all the way to now! Edit: Also feel free to post coins that you yourself have given as gifts!
I'm ta lazy to image them, but the eccentric guy down in Georgia has sent my kiddies shark teeth and red BU wheats with my purchases.
Great post, Curtisimo! Here is a generous gift (not a coin but possibly a trade item) that I received from our good friend @lordmarcovan
This is turning into a @lordmarcovan honor thread...perhaps it means something! I won this one from him for the recent guessing game (tons of fun!) metal detecting game. I have bunches more of gift coins, but this is one of the most recent (and best) photo'd ones. I'll be swapping this one into my 7070 most likely.
Here are a couple of Dan Carr medals. 1 silver, 1 copper, I recieved from a generous Coin Talk Secret Santa.
The Greek coin in the OP was just one piece out of a superb giveaway I won. Before I gave that to @Curtisimo I received it as a gift myself, from @H8_modern!
Here is another coin I got as a gift from my brother-in-law. This is a fascinating coin as it was recovered from a shipwreck called the Admiral Gardner and struck at the Soho Mint. I previously posted a write up on it here for anyone interest. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-soho-mint-coins-medals-and-tokens.291934/#post-2664572
For some reason I started a conversation with @Curtisimo which ended in a gift on both parts (not a swap per se, which would implie deliberate balancing, true gifts for the pleasure of giving to each other) Here is what I got in the mail this morning (quick pictures, some dust is still visible on coins) From the deepest of my heart, thanks a lot Curtis Q
I'm glad you like them all Q. The Sacajawea dollar has a special meaning to me because I got it as part of a roll in 2000 that my mom brought home for me when she worked at the bank. She used to bring home rolls for me to search as well which I think is where I got the 1925 quarter when I was probably around 10 or 11. I have been working to attribute and photograph all the coins you sent me. I picked some US coins I thought were neat to send to Q but I was blown away when I opened the envelope he sent me. Your generosity has blown me away @Cucumbor. I can say that you have inspired me to start more seriously developing my French collection Thank you my friend! Curtis
