L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL, head right wearing lionskin headdress / HER-CVL RO-MAN AV-GV either side of club of Hercules, all in wreath. RSC 190. RIC 251 Sear 564 Feel free to pile on any coins.
Nice score. The Commodus-as-Hercules portrait is clear and you've got all of that crazy reverse legend on it too.
I've always loved the design of this coin. I think Stevex6 has one or someone else here on CT. It's these kinds of posts that make me keep adding to the "want" list.
Cool addition @randygeki !! I'm not sure which reverse is the most scarce but all of the type seem a bit hard to find. Several months ago, just as 2017 arrived, I ran across this example on FORVM auctions and I just had to go after it as well.
Finding a Commodus denarius of good style is very tough, after 40 years of collecting,I'm still looking for mine, you did quite well @randygeki Q
cool new commodus RG! this guy is still on my list, pretty much at the top. i'm torn between a big ol' sestertius or a cool denarius. if i go the denarius route, i'd love to get one like yours.
