    It's on a cent planchet, and the
    60-65 ton pressure of striking
    it expands the diameter of the coin;
    also, it's a smaller planchet in a
    collar for a larger denomination,
    so it expands when struck.

    However, it's still polished/wiped,
    in my view,based on the photos.

    I don't see the polishing/wiping from the images and wouldn't mind seeing it with more optimal lighting/sharpness.

    Maybe it's the lighting that was used,
    but it sure looks polished/wiped to me.

    You may be right, but, neither are very high quality or data rich images with no sign of the lighting approaching optimal for the copper or nickel coins.
    I would like to see more and better of it so I can see what you are seeing.

    Wouldn't it be even more awesome if the copper planchet had been polished prior to striking?

    It looks heavily worn, but please start a new thread instead of sidetracking this one. Thanks!

    It is a spender all beaten up and suitable for keeping if you use cupronickel for tig or plasma arc welding. Definitely cheaper than filler rod.
