It's on a cent planchet, and the 60-65 ton pressure of striking it expands the diameter of the coin; also, it's a smaller planchet in a collar for a larger denomination, so it expands when struck. However, it's still polished/wiped, in my view,based on the photos.
I don't see the polishing/wiping from the images and wouldn't mind seeing it with more optimal lighting/sharpness.
You may be right, but, neither are very high quality or data rich images with no sign of the lighting approaching optimal for the copper or nickel coins. I would like to see more and better of it so I can see what you are seeing. Wouldn't it be even more awesome if the copper planchet had been polished prior to striking?
It is a spender all beaten up and suitable for keeping if you use cupronickel for tig or plasma arc welding. Definitely cheaper than filler rod.
