Can someone tell me what's going on with the date. Is it error or something else. I'm new to coin collecting so any and all information will be appreciated.
Interesting.. Is the area in question Raised or incused into the field? Looks like it goes under the 7
It's what we call a raised left-turning fader. It just turned right where it should have turned left.
It could be a rim burr, and the struck through was retained. http://www.error-ref.com/struck-through_metal_dust__shavings/
In this instance the rim burr, or foreign material was retained. It is stuck to the coin. I am no expert, did you read the link I sent??
The Foreign material fell onto the planchet. then was struck, It may have shown on the 7, but, years of circulation has worn it away.
Yes I did thank you, very informative. I'm just confused as to how it's raised and travels under the 7.
I'm smart enough to know the contraction for "you are" is "you're," not "your." At any rate, it was just a silly joke.
