Hi all, Flea Market purchase 7-1-2017 This is my very first ever Coin Roll Hunting thread... Feast your eyes on these! 12 rolls of Cents from some elderly gentleman who said he had them stored away since the 1980's. He let me have them for $1.00 each roll I opened one roll and checked a few Cents.. Beautiful condition 80's and 1975! I will open the rest when I get a chance and share my finds, I am working today.... To be continued!
Sorry. Weekend holiday family time and painters at my apartment kind of slowed my numismatic hobby a bit.
I give all my Canadian coins to a friend who visits Canada, mostly one cent pieces, the other denominations I find in coin star machines I get them for free, also not much money.
I'm not saying you're wrong by any means by saying this but I've never heard of that before. I've seen many LWC/LMC with this surface graining, and seen many call it a Woody (for obvious reasons) but wouldn't that be improper alloy mix? Or some effect by impurities in the alloy as the strips are formed and before they're punched out as planchets? I thought this was something that happened before it saw a die.
Oh yes, my bad, a website once said improper die mix but its obviously improper alloy mix, kind of a habit with that. lol, its been implanted in my brain.
Lol we both found a woody on the same day, and same year. Lol lots and lots of woodys come from 1980 I have noticed
