Does the original poster (OP) have the man's military papers?
They would have dates which would help in newspaper searches.

    :)

Thank you for sharing this incredible story .
I keep hearing "let's make America great again"
Not to brag ,or boast ,not to be political.....
"We have always been great!" And will always be a great nation ! We are one of many....who have taken a chance including laying down our lives to protect , and defend what... "We the people" believe to be the right, and just causes.
Have we made mistakes ?... of course we have ,we are humans not gods.
I'm extremely proud of my heritage ,as to where my family came from. They came here to find a better life. To live in freedom, and die if necessary to defend what they knew was a just cause.
To men like your father, to all veterans past ,and present ... whom have served I thank you this day July 4 2017.
Because without your courage , and love of country, I wouldn't be able to post this without fearing. I wouldn't be able to celebrate this holiday .
Happy Birthday America "The Greatest County on Earth" because of its patriots those who have question authority ,and fought to protect their freedoms ... ... and no matter what always will to protect the land of the free...and home of the brave!
Have a Happy and safe 4th.

Wonderful story - unfortunately even these days in Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have had a hard time keeping their service dogs - some of the brass in the military view dogs as equipment and not a living breathing and loyal soul. Fortunately the public has a lot more awareness and can get congressmen etc to pull strings.

Back on topic, look at the second to the last vignette in this montage - a soldier and his doggy.

That's the key, get Congressmen involved. As a matter of fact one of the principal people in helping my dad was a White House Aide & in one of her letters to my dad she wrote about contacting Colonels & Generals who would listen to the cause & also about attending a $500 a plate dinner (a lot of money back then) for Johnson in his run for the Democratic nominee & how everyone was "all het up about Kennedy". It was dated 1960. I find it amusing every time I read that letter.
Thank you for your bold & honest words! I appreciate that!

Be my guest ... I've never copyright anything that I say ...as most of the time the word " censored " Used 10 to 12 times makes for a bland story.
