Okay, I have no clue what is going on with the 1980 penny, it has got to be someone trying to plate it with something, and looks like someone tried to rub it off? It's got some wild colors regardless of what it is, and to me it looks cool enough to keep. But I am sure that the 1981 D is an improper mixture of alloys aka woodie penny. lol I would believe polished or maybe someone tried to plate it and did horrible job.. Or it looks like cleaning or some science experiment?

The reason I suggested "whizzed" because you would think that an improper alloy mix would show striations on both sides of the coin. Wouldn't you?

There are two coins posted idk if you caught that. I highly doubt urine could do this to a penny because people use urine to clean coins. Should try it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/hueman...ines-effects-on-a-dirty-penny-experiment/amp/

Click that link. Look at every picture. Some coins exhibited wood grain like on front but not back. ;)

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    That's not what "whizzed" means.

Whizzed means when an abrasive is used on a coin. Could be a buffer on a handheld Dremel machine. :wacky:

I know, let's make a thread about 4 question coins so responses can be even more chaotic and potentially misread than just making a post about 2.

Same toys, much more useful game.

Use a different background that has sharp and crisp lines in it until you master the techniques.

Install an app that allows you to "focus lock". Do it, play with it, and you'll see why.

Make sure you have your camera's image size and quality set to their highest settings. You don't have them set at their lowest do you, maybe to save space which is extremely limited on that device?

If that is the case, there are solutions to those issues as well, that cost nary a penny.
