    I agree with both @Cheech9712 and @FitzNigel.

It's true that Ancient coin threads do seem to take more of the lion's share of Featured Articles, but I think this is for the reasons FitzNigel stated: there's more research and historical background behind those posts.

If somebody did a post on the US Coin Forum about something like the establishment of the early branch mints like Charlotte and Dahlonega, or territorial and private mints like the Bechtlers in Rutherford County, NC, or something about Washington medals, or semi-esoteric but interesting things of that nature with an equal amount of diligent research to it, I'm sure it would have an equally good chance to be Featured.

There is a gentleman by the name of Sam Petry who goes by the username "Cladking" over on Collectors Universe who is extremely wise in the ways of modern clad coins. I'd venture that some of Sam's threads about modern US coins would be Feature-worthy, if he posted over here. He has a way of making that seemingly mundane topic interesting.

And for what it's worth, my first Feature was about metal detecting in England. The second was about an interesting World War 1 love token. Both of those could be categorized as World coins, and neither had to do with Ancients. (Though there was a medieval coin found in the detecting story.)

I would say that anyone who does their homework and posts a good story with supplemental information like additional "background" pictures and/or maps, and ties it in with numismatics, has a good chance. I've nominated a couple, like @Collecting Nut's thread on Chinese Tea Money. Not all the ones I've nominated have gotten the nod, but I'm happy to have supported the ones that did.

Congratulations on your featured article! I personally enjoyed it as it has a very deep educational purpose. Bringing to our attention something that most of us were hardly aware of and a deeper appreciation for the subject behind the coin...
