Ok so admittedly sometimes I can be forgetful, but who doesn't enjoy that feeling of seeing a cool coin in their collection that they completely forgot they had?? In my case I vaguely remember buying a greek coin featuring a rider on horseback and promptly forgot about it...digging through my collection I found it again and realized it was struck under Philip II, one of my favorite rulers! Feel free to post your "re-discoveries" here.
My collection is a bit disorganised - when looking for a coin in a drawer last year, I found two coins that I'd bought and forgotten about about a year earlier. Luckily, they were still in their flips, so I could trace where they'd come from. I didn't actually find what I had been looking for. This was the nicer of the two - Q. ahaha! i love that feelin'! i have felt it several times in my collecting career. last time i member it was these silvers+ some other Greek coins. they were "stolen"..like all but one that was actually taken, until i found them again
What great coins for you to "re-discover" The feeling is totally similar to when you first get the coins in the mail after buying them, haha.
This Tiberius denarius's beauty was "lost" underneath 2000 years worth of hard gunk but I was able to "rediscover" it (by cleaning it). Its quite a feeling to be the first person in two millennia to see the coin's real surfaces and appearance. My Earned AE styca (no longer in my possession). Had it on my desk outside of its flip and I somehow misplaced it. Found it a day later in the space underneath my PC tower (also on my desk).
