Netherlands Mule 1948 10 Cents

Hey Folks,

I'm trying to get more information on the 10 Cent mule from the Netherlands 10 cent in 1948. Particularly, I'm trying to get my hands on one because they're a pretty common mule variety and I have zero mules in my error collection set. I purposely put this on world coins instead of errors, because I'm hoping some of the world coin collectors can help me out.

I've tried to get more definitive photos or side by side comparisons, but the best I've come up with is using the 1/10 Gulden photos. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to identify this in any of the 1948 10 cents that I own.

Either I have gone blind but are they not all the same obverse? And isn't that the normal Obverse? See mine . There are a few easy to spot differences like the spacing distance between the A-K. The front pearl is between the gap of NG etc

 

Yes, I believe mine to all be normal. I wish I had the mule.

The mule and the regular coin differ with respect to (i) the distance between the A of WiLHELMINA and the K of KONINGEN and (ii) the position of the top "pearl" of the crown. In the regular coin it points to the center of the bottom of the G of KONINGEN whereas in the mule it points to the left side of the bottom of the G, practically to the space between the N and the G.

As shown in the link above, the quickest way to tell is by the thicker, more closely spaced pearls.

Never hurts to ask for a specific one, worst case scenario is a "no". But either way, I'm sure you will have no problem cherrypicking one pretty quickly now that you know exactly what to look for. Happy hunting
