I Have a double tails silver dollar. Appears to be real silver. The eagle looks closest to a Morgan. At the bank, while cashing change, the banker said it was a real and minted silver dollar but of course I could only cash it in for a dollar. It has an "O" mint on one side under the eagle and an "S" on the other. What do I have and what is is worth?
It can't be real because it is not possible. Sorry but it's most likely an altered coin. O is for New Orleans Mint and S is for San Francisco... Think about it. Two separate Mints making 1 coin with 2 Reverse sides. That does not add up.
I know and that's what's weird. I was thinking maybe it was some over TV special for silver because it's real silver. I will see what others have to say as well. The bank manager and I think it's real He said I should cash it in for silver price. Hopefully somebody can figure out what it is.
If it isn't real and is just a chunk of silver I couldn't have a bank pay me even the dollar. It's dishonest and would haunt me. Silly I know.
Bank managers aren't all experts on coin varieties, errors or fakes. Just experts on managing money It's not real in the sense that it was made at a Mint that way.
Look what I found on eBay Pair of Two Sided 1895 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins 1 Two Headed and 1 Two Tailed
All other previously-mentioned issues/concerns aside, and even with the less than ideal photos, I don't see how there's any chance of it being two genuine coins made into a magician's. Look closely...
I looked for the seam. Research says a good one won't have a visible seam so I might actually have to put it under a microscope. Someone is good at this
