When mint sets are produced, which mint puts the sets together? Does Philly send the "P" coins to Denver to be packaged or vice versa?

Excellent question. We tackled this over on the CU forums and never did come up with a definitive answer. I believe that the sets are all packaged in Philly and Denver's coins are shipped there in bags. I do have the answer somewhere in my "library" and will look for it next time. Of course West Point and San Francisco coins have also appeared in the modern mint sets. West Point's coins may have been sealed there.

From my understanding, each mint provides their own packaging for the mint sets. The exception in recent memory were the 1996 sets. Once the coins are sealed, they are then shipped to the location in TN for processing.

I'd like to know more on how mint sets are packaged up whether they are put together mechanically or by people into the plastic. I know GDJMSP touched on this in another thread.

    They are assembled by machines.
