I hit the antique shops again today. Picked up a 1986 Statue of Liberty silver dollar proof without any of the packaging except for the airtite for $4.50. I also bought a 1994 Silver Proof Set for $11.25. There is a slight tear in the outer blue envelop but the coins appear to be at least PF68 and maybe higher. It was a good day. :thumb:
I've seen it for $36, but this seemed pretty good. The $1 coin was below melt value so that was impossible to resist.
I asked my wife and the packaging is black, not blue. I'm a little color-blind with dark colors and sometimes navy and black look the same to me. But the word silver is there and it is definitely the silver proof set. Thanks for the observation so I could double-check it.
Nice finds at a good price! I have an antique mall down the road from me, I have not searched there yet for specific coins, I will have to go this weekend. How would I know if they are ripping me off or not?
