Hi, im sure i must be like the millionth person to come here and ask for help but I just inherited my grandfathers coin collection and in it were around 50 to 60 lincoln wheat pennies, plus 5 or six indian head pennies. One thing stood out to me in this collection....the fact that there were about 10-20 pennies from the late 50's up until 1960 that were all in perfect or near perfect condition. For that reason I looked into the year 1960 and discovered all kinds of interesting things that make coins from that year valuable. One thing I discovered was the whole "small date, large" date error, but im afraid my eye is not nearly discerning enough to tell the difference. One thing i am fairly certain of however is that a good portio of these 1960 pennies are double die. For instance, on many of them you can feel how the outer circumference of the penny is definitely raised up, making the penny feel as if it were pressed in or kinda concave. Also, alot of the pennies are kinda off center with the "L" in the word liberty being placed basically all the way to the far left of the penny or almost off the penny altogether. Im just wandering if this adds any value to these pennies and if so what that value is. If anyone cares about this and can help and would like me to post pictures please let me know. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to CT I think you'll find that most of the guys will want you to post a couple of pictures so I would crop pic and when you load them onto the site click full image just pick out a couple of good ones there and take pictures of the front and the back and be patient and you'll get a couple of the guys that know what they're talking about they'll come by and they'll probably be able to give you some good suggestions and help you out

    Hello
You definitely need pictures for answers.
Small Date and Large Date are varieties not mint errors.
Raised edges are probably Misaligned Die strikes and have nothing to do with a Doubled Die.

I feel like you don't really understand the meaning of a Doubled Die. I'm just asking if you do? Not trying to be obnoxious, just wondering.

    Peace:angelic:
