Thanks for the inspiration and for the correction in my spelling. I think it's probably too late to mess around anymore. Have a good rest of your night!
Here is one of my slabbed world coins, and a very nice looking one at that. The edges have some subtle rainbow toning that doesn't show up under this kind of light:
I was gonna say, "well, that's what the TrueView images are for", but it appears your coin was graded before TrueViews were included as part of the PCGS Secure Plus tier. So all that's on your cert verification page is the Secure Plus image, not a TrueView. Still, that does show some of the toning you talk about, and the cartwheel luster. Nice coin! I always paid extra for the TrueViews. Now they're included with Secure Plus submissions, which is good. Before, it was kind of a raw deal that PCGS made you pay for mandatory Secure Plus tier on World coins, but now that that includes a free TrueView image (or, as @brg5658 would put it, "a glamor shot"), my objections to being forced to use Secure Plus have ceased. (I happen to be a fan of "glamor shots", personally. Not everyone is - and the naysayers have valid criticisms there - but they haven't changed my mind.) Here's your Secure Plus image from the cert page. It does look a tad overexposed and glarey, but seeing that in combination with the slab photos you posted does give a better overall impression of the coin.
But I haven't seen LM throw a rant over this thread.....has he finally found eclectic box of pills....
Thank you, I really like it as well! It has a lot of luster and has a very unique look to it. And thanks for the information, I wasn't aware of how that worked. What is the difference between a normal Secure Plus image and a TrueView image? I've also noticed that some Secure Plus images include the whole slab (older ones?), while some just have the coin. I've never actually submitted a coin to PCGS, only once to NGC (my ABC peso). This 5 francs I bought off of Vcoins from a French store, after first finding it on eBay and then looking around and finding it on there for a bit cheaper.
Night and day. Night and day. To use the example of my Aethelred II penny I posted earlier in this thread: Secure Plus image: TrueView image: Slab image (my scan): Actually, those are relatively newer ones with the full-slab image. That is how PCGS Europe (in Paris) does their TrueViews. I'm not sure if PCGS Asia (in Hong Kong) does the full-slab TrueViews or not (I think so).
@NLL Thank you and no problem. I enjoyed hosting the coin giveaway; but I will tell you that it was a very tedious and at times complicated process. I am glad you are enjoying your slabbed coin. I apologize for this late response. I just came back from vacation for a month. I was in Greece for my wife's brother wedding; so I was not around on Coin Talk much. I am back now and look forward to the forums now that I am back.
