Maybe, you need better pix. Too much, wrong angle and maybe the wrong kind of light for starters I'm guessing. Not sure if your optical card is up to this task? http://doubleddie.com/730634.html Faint lines and letter shapes appear as though they might be a match. Always show full front and back when seeking opinions.
Notice how the first T in states appears like it has two Ts in the picture above(looks like two Ts when you look at the bottom serif, they look split) The serifs are split. The picture above is what it's supposed to look like and the picture below is your coin. Notice the top of the T's spread of your coin is about a millimeter spread while the picture above, the T looks like 1/2 a millimeter. This is mechanical doubling, looks very much like the real deal though. Look at the top of the letters and compare to images above. Much bigger spread on your coin
His over-exposed and huge pixel'd pictures patently lack quality information to see what you say you are "seeing", determine MD, or that it is, or is not 001, or another variety. Do you not see how Wexler's pictures show what appear to be the actual surfaces of an actual coin and that the supplied pictures could just as easily be shots of some newly discovered unknown planet?
I found this 62 D and four others in better shape than this one in a bank box; I went to Variety Vista, no DDO listings, but a DDR; looking at that picture, it shows marks on the cross bar of the "A" and a depression on the vertical of the "T". The other letters are unmarked, I did not reference Wexler, so no, I didn't see the surface of the Wexler example; that is why I did not SEE it. This is why I put a question mark at the end of my post title. This is the lowest light setting on my microscope, I do not have an adjustable light source, maybe I can find a way to defuse the light or should I quit? Am I cluttering site with inane questions? Unknown planet? I'm guessing your vote is "no".
I still think it's DDD or mechanical(no premium). Ordinary fool needs to put his glasses. I can clearly see that there are No split serifs on the first T I'm States. And no question about coin is a useless question. This is partly why this site is here for, to ask questions, answer and to show off coins.
Momentarily, I am posting a pic of the "A" I used a filter from my Nikon camera and got a lot of the flash back removed, tell me what is up with the "A" especially the small piece at the top.
The Nikon pix is much better. Considerate would be to rotate them level and post a pix of the whole coin, both sides. I'm not interested in playing guess what's up with the "A" otherwise. It's also nice if you post a link to what you are thinking it matches along with attribution images. Side by side or over/under nice. FYI, window native photo editor will rotate images in less than 1 degree increments. The problem with it is that as you rotate, the image "helix's" towards you reducing the amount of subject available for cropping. Play with it and you'll see what I mean. I had looked into fixing it as it is annoying and found a registry tweak is alleged to be able to correct/modify that behavior. I forgot where and let me know if you run across it. I'll do mine eventually, but, have no serious need at this point in time. I do believe your coin appears trying to show resemblance to 001 at some die stage but the jpg fails. If you are seeing what seems to match in hand, that strongly supports that TG is merely popping off with safe and easy standard answers. As if anyone truly thinks precise measurements regarding the "spread" possibly shown on your coin's heavily pixelated picture leaves enough to credibly nail it to within 20 thou. Geeze. By all means, try making a diffuse or filter for the light on the USB or do the Nikon. Get it too dark then turn it up if you have to. Maybe make one from a lens out of a sunglass. Polarized and two of them might make you smile. Give up? I walk away from my coins all the time and have off and on for over 30 years. I always come back and you are getting on the right track and the fact that you realize what you've uploaded doesn't faithfully convey what you are seeing in hand, is a really good step.
Sorry, I am getting used to this format and the rules, I will not post a new thread in the future, thanks for pointing out my error.
I don't know if it's against rules or anything like that, it just makes sense to keep all the info on a coin in one thread and keep one coin per thread. Think about it. My guess is most don't browse with tabs or do split and/or dual monitors (I do all that so it isn't nearly as annoying to me) and I can only imagine having to click back and forth between alternating disappearing pages. Make sense?
Absolutely, I just need to get used to the most efficient process and can see how a new thread on an old post would confuse things. I live in Dewey, AZ and we are dead center for the Goodwin fire, it is about 8 miles south and closing, ash is falling on our street, so hopefully I will post more tomorrow.
