I personally see no collectible value for straits settlement coins.. they look plain, unattractive or lack any historical value.. true if you collect them as a relic of the colonial days but collecting the years and slabbing them at high premium prices seems out of my league and interest.
Hi I have a 1 or 2 pound coin with 1985 on it I can not send pictures yet I am not at my house out of town but I will post it soon I get back home.
@Loong Siew This is relative. Every single collector has individual interest. It is not fair to judge others' interests. Just like colours and food and everything on this planet. This is the essence of life. Variety of taste and interest. If yoy look at things from one angle you may not see it all. For me, i wouldn't change my mind about proof coins but it doesn't mean i should undermine fans of proof coins. Regarding the straits settlment coins, well. If i have a daughter and her name is on a coin series. Hell yea. It is one good reason i get em all for her. Instinct of a loving father. This is unquestionable. I myself try to look for a banknote with my daughter's birthday 3-8-2016 i know there is no coin carrying the name Maryam so far. But if there is i would get it. The least i can do is get her a coin carrying her birthday. And i also asked a trader for another princess diana wedding commemorative coin to make it a necklace for her
