I am on the fence about what to do with this coin, it's far from being uncirculated but is it still worth spending the money to have it graded? Any advice would be very much appreciated
What you have is machine (or mechanical) doubling and it's a common effect on coins and has no premium. Essentially, it's a spender. This website gives a great explanation of machine doubling: http://www.doubleddie.com/144822.html
Best explanation I've seen so far. Thank you for the feedback and saving me from spending money on a coin not worth sending in.
Thanks man! I've gotta say, in my experience everyone here on cointalk has been super informative, positive and just all around awesome. It's people like you who make this site as great as it is
I wouldn't say that it is a spender. After all, it is 40% silver. Kennedy half dollars produced from 1965-1970 contain .1479 ounces of silver. @Pitassi might want to hold on to it while he builds up his silver stash. Chris
