All have that gorgeous black patina, and gorgeous. The gold speaks for itself. (if you listen hard enough) ;)

Yes, not cheap but considering the historical prices achieved, I think a steal;)

    All are lovely!

There was quite a run of Greek silver in that auction which all had uniform gunmetal gray toning. I wonder if they all came from the same consignor or whether they were all prepped by the same conservator.

haha, I see you all the time at UK auctions:) killing it....no chance against Najib1958 + you tend to bid on all the coins I like.. Maybe one day I will give you a run for the money:))))

Warn me in advance and I will step aside:happy:

I only bid when the bid amounts don't hit astronomical levels :D

1,000 pounds- pretty astronomical to me:) what other coins do you collect?

That's one of many reasons I don't post my wins immediately. Roma, CNG and another auction company or two have winner bidder names visible until the entire auction has finished. I'd rather not reveal my bidder name to others, not that it really matters since I change my bidder name frequently, sometimes in mid auction :D.

I'm perfectly happy to take advantage of that lack of privacy though :D. When I have time I like to quickly review CNG and Roma auctions to see who won what and to make note of certain bidder names and coins. It helps me understand who I can and can't outbid in future auctions. It also helps to identify dealers who turn around and offer the coins for sale. Knowing what they paid gives insight into their markup and what I might reasonably offer should I decide I want the coin (although if I'd really wanted it, I would have bid the first time around).

In Ancients I've been mainly looking at Greek and Roman (Imperatorial). I also collect Modern mainly GB sovereigns (I think I've got a pretty decent collection) and Crowns, British Empire, some Indian Mohurs. Napoleon and others (mainly European gold), if I like the coin or its uniqueness. Ah yes, and I have a fairly decent collection of Russian Imperial (Silver and gold Roubles mostly).

I've posted quite a few of my collection on the World Coins forum. Now I need to perhaps trim my collection and have a more focused approach which will involve selling many of my earlier purchases and duplicates, which were quite random, and concentrate on quality coins.
