@Ninarose, are you also seeing "doubling," however slight, in any of the numbers in the date? Look real closely.
The design didn't change , so it means either (1) The die was overused and spread bringing the devices and lettering closer to the edge or (2) it is a 'dryer coin' and the circumference of the coin is very slightly decreased and the rim a little thicker as it was moved towards the center.
