Who are we kidding! Steve be a Coin-Bro, we ain't gonna let him leave. If he hangs elsewhere, we stalk him to return. He is too valuable a contributor, has too good of a collection, possesses too funny of humor to let this animal lover leave the stables!

The ancient coin section does an excellent job in reporting transgressions for the forum, and mods appreciate the help. I have a friend who is wonderful 99% of the time, but when the friend is intoxicated or under personal stress, it is hard to be with them, as you know not what they will do. There are some on the forum ( or any forum), who thinks it is their right to type , paste or say anything. And they see no reason to regret it at the time. Some admit they were substandard in their own expectations when they are censored or get silenced for a while. We don't like to do such at all, but we have agreed to enforce the rules. There is a short period of time where a poster can edit their own post, and change or delete something if they wish, but if we notice it or it is reported, we have to act on it. Friends tell friends when they are approaching the edge and help them see it, but only they can alter their own path. Jim

The guns make me feel uncomfortable too, and I move on. Just wanted to echo Q's thoughts on that... perhaps the only opportunity to register my discomfort. (Merci, Q... beaucoup de Canadiens sont du même avis.)

Phew, feels good to get that off my chest! :shame:

For what it's worth since I joined this community (not all that long ago) I think of most, actually all, of you as friends not just because you have cool coins but because you are all cool and interesting people too.

I've enjoyed getting a historical take on stuff from folks like @Alegandron, learning about everyone's other hobbies or even reading book or show reviews slanted in our own ancient collector peculiar way ;) and I must say that Steve's humor is one of the things I enjoy on here as an added bonus to the coins. It'll be good to have him back... and don't any of you go leaving either!

To keep it ancient coin related, kinda...
Guess the ancient city who's coins inspired this design?

Just one thing to say, I remember the slow motion shooting death scene in the movie "Bonny And Clyde" was banned in France and considered somewhat pornographic.

Above is my answer. As too often the case, my example is imperfect. The legend is weak and partial (M at obverse left) which gives those interested in Curtisimo's challenge the first letter. Rather than spelling out the answer to Curtisimo's question, I'll add one that will not trip up those who remember earlier postings of the coin. It is even multiple choice BUT tricky to some eyes, I suspect.

This AR 1/3 nomos of M_________ shows a common error found on ancient coins. Name it.

I won't be around today to answer this one because I am getting ready to leave for the Baltimore coin show today. I will see JA and, I hope, others of the CT community who can drag themselves to Maryland. Those of our group on other continents and those, like myself, not fully comfortable visiting one of the top ten crime ridden US cities will be excused.

I think one of the flaws common on ancient coins on dougsmit's list would be double striking (3).

This forum's rules (few and simple) are certainly a factor in making it a nice place for collectors, of all ages, to socialize with others and learn about coins. Let's keep it that way - and make the moderators' jobs easier.
