World coin charms were quite popular in the 1950s. You see a lot of that, but it's usually charm bracelets. Sometimes the coins are even fake, made to look like modern coins of the period. That's the first earrings I've seen, though. Cool. I'd have bought that for a buck, too, no doubt!

BTW- As I recall, I determined that this coin was not proof manufacture. It may be a business strike that was cherry picked by a previous collector. (When I found it I certainly cherry picked it :)). Maybe there are more out there that are this nice?

    I wanted to make sure I didn't miss 1953 while at work. It's a good year for coins. 1953 ireland farthing.jpg 1953 italy 5 lire.jpg 1953 madagascar 5 francs.jpg 1953 vietnam 20 su.jpg 1953 vietnam 50 xu.jpg

I know what you mean! And, I was about to bump to 1953 as I work a lot this weekend. I happen to have a number of late 40s/early 50s to show and a few will be sure to get skipped but oh well.

A couple Japanese of course. This one is a 5 yen of the currently circulating type, but has the old style lettering aka script or kaisho:

and a 10 yen that still has some nice color! Also in the currently circulating type, but has a reeded edge.

Even as late as the early 2000s the script 5 yens and the reeded edge 10 yens could be found in circulation....not in this type of condition, but still findable.

And, a bit different, from New Zealand.

Not too much for 1952 imaged, so I'm going to line up my 50s/51s in case I can post later tonight :).
