Like to know what anyone thinks of this coin? & grade? I kept seeing this thing everytime I looked through raw morgans at local dealer,
was in old 2x2 and you could barely see the coin through the film, took a chance got
it for under $50, has brilliant pinwheel or cartwheel shine when you rotate coin so I know is never been cleaned or altered and looks uncirculated to me.

Looks AU to me; not sure about the color but it's hard to tell from those pictures.

I'm guessing it looks pretty darn cool in hand under good lighting.

I don't think the color would be deemed market acceptable. I could change my mind with better pics though.

Looks like the same color schemes as a lot of AT coins on ebay.

Don't forget, 1921's tone very differently than other Morgans, so evaluating them uses different rules.

    x2!

Almost posted a thread about this very topic. You can show 100 toners and cover up the date and pick out the 1921s at like a 95% success rate. Always curious about that.

Well, half drunk and probably Dave could explain better, but #1 the mint process was different by 1921. The method of basining the dies, the relief of the coin (note the design change in 21) and im gonna guess that the sulfur laden mint bags were different after a 17 year hiatus of Morgans...............
I might/could have left a factor or 2 out, as im drunk, but hopefully, you can pick up what im laying down

There ARE nice '21 toners out there fyi ( ive owned a few) they are few and far between and the real nice ones are no doubt being hoarded at this point in the coin game

here is the date I forgot to include, sorry for bad photos, all photos are of same 1921 morgan, not AT, all geniune toning from time. many fakes out there, don't think it's possible this is one, also has original mint luster.

I'd be interested to see what the coin looks like as a whole from a bit further back with some lights on.

I'm no photographer but even something like this would be nice if possible just to get a better overview.

When I first started wondering what a coin under a lens looked like, I was coin hunting and wanted to see the coin I found It sure looked like a Doubled Die, but I couldn't see it as in the photo of the book.
I used to set my phone on 3 nickel rolls, then adjust the light properly.
Some better focused photos of your Morgan would be cool to see!

Im new to coin collecting, sorry not sure how to photograph this coin or whats the best way.
4 months ago didn't even know what a morgan dollar was, now have 24 including this one. Im no expert but from all the info I gathered online this coin fits all critera for natural toning.

Heres a quick science experiment you could try at home. If you have any silver coins that have been cleaned, and worth melt at this point. Boil an egg and take the yellow yoke ball out of it, throw it in a bowl. Then throw your coin in the bowl, maybe cover it w shrink wrap or a book or something. You will notice the coin start to tone, and after a while, if my assumption is correct, will look similiar in color to the OP coin in this thread. Hopefully im wrong, as its been a very long time since i performed this myself.
If u try it, maybe share your findimgs as it might enlighten a few members/readers at home

There are you tube Videos that show that egg senerio only turns coin yellow or golden only, won't give you the multi colors. The reason so many think coin is AT , is bc they are few and seldom not many trained eyes on genuine rainbow toned coins. heres a link to a great reference.

I don't know if it's AT or NT, but it's not attractive either way. Maybe @physicsfan or @Lehigh96 could take a look at it.

It might just be from the crappy photos, but, to me, this looks like a classic case of Artificial Toning.
@physics-fan3.14 i would like to hear your thoughts. I mean seriously, who could argue with a guy who has a Masters Degree in Physics?
