Saw a Kennedy Accent Hair graded by NGC (looks to be older holder) and it lists the grade as PF 68 W.

What does the "W" stand for in this situation? I don't recall ever seeing this before.

    Thanks!!!

This letter was used to indicate that a silver or nickel coin was entirely untoned, and its application was limited to certain modern series. NGC discontinued the use of this "W" designation in 2002.

Huh. And I thought I was pretty slab-savvy. That's the first I've heard about this one. Interesting.

I actually had to look on their website for the info. Apparently it was a short lived thing.

I did not know that either... I have PCGS slabs though... and lots of raw ones I cherrypicked at coin and gun shows....A lot of dealers do not even check the AH variety...

I believe during the same time frame there was a T designation for Toned.

Here's a certified PCGS Accented Hair 1964 Proof Kennedy Half in the older green label:

Did you attach the photo you intended? That looks like a blue label.

Sorry, it is the old blue label, I was going to attach a green one, but did this one instead.
