Good afternoon! Something I would like to run by you fellows. I have several SBA dollar coins which are in good condition. Out of all those coins, 4 stands out mainly because of their color. 2 from '79 and 2 from '80 , both with a P and D mint mark. Just curious on what could have caused the discoloration. Is it environmental or during mintage? Hoping to learn from all of you. Thanks you.

Because you posted this same thread on two separate forums.

Sorry if I broke a rule or something. Didn't mean to be a pain. My intention was to get a diverse opinion, expertise and to gather as much info that will enable gain the knowledge and a better understanding from members like yourself who have been doing this quite a awhile.

The color is just toning. The metal that the coin is made from has tarnished or oxidized, whichever word you prefer. It is very common. There are coins on which toning will bring a premium. These, unfortuantely, aren't those coins.

Don't worry about it. No big deal.

No! You didn't break any rule. It's just that posting a thread multiple times serves no purpose.
