    Hey guys,

I'm wondering if there is some comprehensive online reference that has a photographic record of most, if not all of the civil war tokens or store cards. Right now the references I see, including the Q. David Bowers book, have some images but just codes and descriptions for others. I realize what I'm asking is probably an impossible task, but I figured I'd pick the collective forum's brain to see if a reference exists. I have also heard that the Fuld books are pretty comprehensive and will likely consider buying that in the future.

    Thanks in advance,

@ReaperRuler the 3rd Edition Fuld Storecard Guide is the best investment you will ever make if you are interested in collecting in this field. I refer to mine multiple times daily. It is absolutely worth every cent.

That said, there really isn't an online guide like you are seeking. There are tens of thousands of varieties (over 3000 from my home state of Ohio alone), and Fuld is really the only one that puts it all together. If you are seeking a specific piece, sometimes you can search Steve Hayden's past auction sales at civilwartokens.com and get lucky, but true rarities are not likely to be there.

    tl;dr - buy the book.

@jester3681 Thanks, I figured Fuld was the way to go. I just was curious to see what other people had seen since I was at a flea market not too long ago and visited someone who sold them and I realized I knew nothing about what I wanted when it came to buying them, so I wanted to see if there was a way to make that easier lol

For what it's worth, a 2nd Edition Fuld isn't a bad investment. Several numbers changed, as did some rarities, but you can pick one up used for $20+/-.

Also, I will offer the info that the Civil War Token Society is working on a revision of the Fuld 5th edition Patriotic token book. It will be on the level of the new Store Card bool, so we can expect excellent color pictures and the conversion to the Unified Die numbering system.
