Need help with identification.

Hello all. Could use a little help with identification of this coin, and is it silver? If so, what percentage? Only for cataloging purposes.

I might've asked about this one before? Can't remember. Thanks in advance.

If its real my guess would be 1896 China and yes silver. Numista has several for the 24th year but no 22nd year that I can find.

Do a search for writing on obverse, there is a lot of others to compare yours to.

 

Chihli Provence./China. year22/1896, KM# catalog = Y#65, denomination-dollar, weight- 26.7000 g. or .7727 oz. metal- .900 silver , Obv. inscription- Kuang-hsu Yuan-pao , low mintage- 3,000

not sure on the grade of your coin VF-XF ?
sweet rare coin if it is aunthentic.
may I ask where you got this coin ?
I would not buy a raw Chinese expensive coin without it being graded by PCGS or NGC. to many fakes out there for Chinese coins.

 

Thanks for the help guys. Doing a Google search is ok, but asking here you can get more details such as vams, errors, etc... that you may not get from a search. And you get to show the coin also.
I don't remember where I got this, but I know I didn't pay much at all. I will weigh it tomorrow, but I definitely have my doubts now with the high value shown above. Any more info about this would be great, such as authenticity, grade.

Or, maybe some more experienced members of the forum will correct me

 

Just from looking at the picture, I would venture that it is not authentic.

Welcome to Coin Talk, Wukay. You can go to Forums, Click on Wold coins and on the right side of post column you will see a Blue Box that says post new thread.
You should crop photos and post one of both sides of coin and focus helps allot. Keep trying someone will help.

 

Yep, that's a cast counterfeit.

 

As someone else mentioned, you shouldn't buy anything except the most common Chinese coins unless you know a lot about them. They're almost always counterfeits. Especially in eBay auctions.

 

Unfortunately, your photo is very low quality and it is very difficult to recognize the coin. Also, please add the photo of the reverse.
