Do you agree with my grades?

It'll help me to make my decision on these two coins!

It's a bit difficult to grade this one for me, given all of the dark toning. The spot encircling the bottom star directly left of the date seems to suggest some cleaning, but that may just be an effect of toning - not sure. However, all of the device details are there and marks on the surface seem to not be as pronounced, which may have a lot to do with the toning.

if most of the luster remains beneath the dark toning

Well, I grade the 1893 Morgan AU55. I see wear that's quite evident on the obverse. That yellow & blue toning is often an indicator of egg toning, which is often applied to hide old cleanings. But I will straight grade it based on those pics.

    I think 63 BN on the 1909 VDB, but I wouldn't fuss about a 64.

I agree on 55 for the Morgan however I have a feeling that the color could have been applied to hide hairlines

Yeah that toning and many spots were one of my concerns. If I assumed all of that away, then I think an MS grade is possible. But it may very well be an old cleaning that's had sulfur-based toning.

Nice looking VDB! No problem at 64BN, a shot at 65BN if the luster is strong.
