Congratulations MontCollector - The giveaway contest that nobody knew about

    Collect89 Coin Collector

My number of CoinTalk posts since 2008 and my number of recent “likes” was about to become the same number. I decided to hold a contest for a numismatic gift. The person that gave that one required “like” (that made my number of likes equal my number of posts) would receive a present from Collect89 much like a secret Santa gift. The gift might even be tailored to the individual winner.

Congratulations now go-out to MontCollector. He gave collect89 the 7,897th like when I had 7,897 posts. I think he needs more coins.:) MontCollector, please send me your gift mailing address by PM.

Thanks to all of you that participated (without even knowing it). :D

Keeping this coin related, here is one of my favorite coin designs:
    Italy 1967 500 Lire Collage Bk.jpg
    Italy 1967 500 Lire

I wonder if MontCollector has one of these? (This is not the prize Kirkuleeze:))

Cool contest, and lovely prize. I feel like some of the contests lately have become overly complicated, your rules were easy enough that even I could follow them.

The 1967 500 Lire coin is just one of my favorite coins to look at. I suspect that MontCollector will post the prize when he receives it. I'm studying his past posts now to see what he might like for his "like".

Oh, I am slightly jealous! I have long loved that design. I've had a few of those, but never one so attractively toned!

Congrats to @MontCollector for the win, and @Collect89 for the milestone! (Even if it had an unusual sort of "planetary alignment" aspect to it.)

Edit. Forgot to add...No I don't have that coin.

    Ummm,,,,,
I am sure he will appreciate the prize that is sent. The 1967 piece is just an example and not necessarily the prize. You and Kirkuleez seem to read more into the OP than was intended.

Good to know. I have been examining your previous posts and I'm confident you will enjoy what is sent. It will probably go out in the mail tomorrow.

Oh. I too failed to fully read and thought the coin pictured was the prize.

No matter- those are ALL nice... and silver!

    Sweet prize.

Just yesterday I gifted a friend a coin from my collection that he needed to complete his latest project. Sent it all the way to PA. Then this happens today.

Karma or coincidence?? I'll go with Karma.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    Haha, love the "milestone"!

It is my goal for my "likes" to eventually outpace my posts. It seems a good measure of quality, although the ancient forum gives out vastly more likes than anywhere else.

You got me, I didn't read the passage within the parenthesis. But I've always loved the profile and the depth of the obverse.

I'm glad you like the selection.:) I tried to select some really good material that would be kept & help grow your collection.

BTW, your photos are great except I know you can do better on the 67CAM quarter. You might try shooting your camera down a tube of translucent paper to the coin. Then shine your light(s) onto the paper tube (NOT DOWN THE TUBE). I find this simple set-up provides diffused light which makes the cameo pop and keeps the mirror fields dark(er). I'm just sayin'.

I'm really glad you like everything.
