So... I feel a little dorky asking this noob-like question, but... What is a "tater" coin?

    No, not this.

    Thanks in advance!

A tater coin is usually a copper coin inserted into a potato to clean gunk and corrosion from the surface. I was told this by an old timer years ago.

When I did a Google search I saw some references towards that. But thought there must be more to this...

Well, I noticed it yesterday with items from taterthecat on ebay (*Tater*...) , but I've seen it before and it piqued my interest.

I haven't gone through Tater the Cat's items list fully yet, but will certainly do that! I've had great luck with Tom/frascatius, Steve/lovetobrew, cody111111, romae_aeternae_numismatics, and, yes, even zurqieh (with some scrubbing).

I've been collecting just over a month now on ebay exclusively... I need to start photographing and documenting what I've got so far. I'd love to share it! (<-- that's really the best part, right?)

I've been know to jump in Vcoins.com too! Just haven't bought anything yet. Noticed some same items and same sellers, at differing prices. Just yesterday I discovered PicClick as a resource.

I don't know Steve/lovetobrew, but the rest I dealt with and have had no problems.

I am guessing Tater is the name of his cat.

Someone already answered but I wanted to reiterate the answer. Our Steve, Stevex6 (lil bro), does not sell coins. So, I suppose I should take a look at this other steve. Maybe he will have something I want, eh?

I thought I had put 2 & 2 together with the photos of the ebay items (see below; close up of coins on fingers) being super similar to some photos by stevex6 I saw on CoinCommunity (example: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=114435).

And the fact that the ebay seller name is lovetobrew and stevex6's mood is Beer Lover. And the lovetobrew sellers name is Steve.

And does Stevex6 have an affinity for potin eagles?

I've been wrong before and will be wrong again. :) thanks for the correction!

    Maybe :) http://www.ebay.com/usr/lovetobrew?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
