I figured. lol I just think that nickel has a lot of cool colors. Photo doesn't do justice. I love odd coins like this damaged or not haha
I'll show you the penny I found the other day that has some awesome colors too (when I get home) I always look for black beauty, but I think ima give up on the black beauty.
I have a few coins with colors like your nickel, I just mark them damaged so no one gets some kind of bright idea when they find them.
So here is another damaged colorful quarter. 2017 damaged too according to everyone. Really wish I could find out how it was done so I can do this to my coins.
Lol... sooo.... Okay... im gonna try it... yes you heard me right!!! I will experiment, and see if i can duplicate what happened.. Im even gonna try to use heat, cause i dont know. Not trying to say your wrong, I really want to try to see if i can make a piece of art with my favorite quarter ( the Nevada state quarter) (dont worry, i have gloves and YES i wash my hands)
Putting a coin on a very hot surface may replicate the obverse of the quarter. BTW: Be careful and don't burn yourself (obligatory safety notice)
Lmao, I have only once defaced a coin on purpose. this was a simple sledge hammer to three stacked coins. I was having trouble agreeing with advice that was given to another poster. My opinion though, even if a coin has seen environmental damage, IE, Soda, Heat, Snot, Buggers etc. someone might like them. If they are attractive to me, I have been known to put them in a roll or mark the flip. To each his own, that is what this hobby is all about.
I like the colorful (aka toned) ones. They can have a premium of thousands of dollars, assuming their natural of course. Sooner rather than later you will be able to tell NT (natural) or AT (artificial) with a quick glance. Majority of the time anyways.
Just don't put it back in circulation. Who knows what else people do to coins that are floating around in circulation.
Well no one can give me a better explanation to how that got on the quarter. sorry I really want to duplicate what's on this quarter. Rubbing alcohol can clean the quarter when I am done. Don't worry though. I am sure a door handle has just as much germs. At least I intend to wash them when I am done. Smh.
