I recently purchased this coin but, despite my efforts, (and the efforts of some other collectors), I have been unable to attribute it. Can anyone help me please? It is 18 mm and 4.5 gm.
A coin with a bust of Helios and a rose is likely going to be a Rhodian issue. Something like the second one here: https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...s=1¤cy=usd&thesaurus=1&order=3&company=
Rhodes Like this: ISLANDS off CARIA. Rhodes. Circa 40-25 BC. Æ 18mm (3.49 gm). Radiate head of Helios right / RODIwN, open rose, seen from above; herm. SNG Helsinki 751; SNG Copenhagen 875
@Bing My thoughts, too! @zumbly and @TIF Thank-you. I think you have it. (When it arrives I will check the inscription.) If I had searched 'Rose' (instead of 'clover') I may have been more successful. Terrific. Thank-you, again. (My US$6 was well spent.)
