    IMG_6991.JPG So I bought this coin on eBay after I had a few too many. I have never collected non-US coinage - and I have no idea what it is worth... I can't find any other comparable pieces.. Anybody have an idea of value?

    there are countless resources for checking values including NGC's world coin price guide and auction result databases

    The NGC price guide is rarely indicative of real world value.

    @Matt E. very true.

    you can also search sold listings on eBay.
    This coin is not on nbc world coin auction results

    Those German precursor states sure put out some interesting and distinctive coins. Do you mind if I ask how much your drunken self paid for it? (a PM is fine)

    It was the top pop (because it is the only one) on NGC and it kinda pulled me in.. I guess since I have the only one I can say it is worth whatever I want.. Haha

    I was told that while in Germany, if I could find any Thalers for $200, I was getting a steal. I cannot speak to the veracity of that statement, but at under $150, I'd pick that beauty up too :)

    I think you did fine for what you paid. Now you need to get some of the Wildemann type from the other variations of Braunschweig (Brunswick) states. Those are my favorites
