I have a coin with a counterpunch of a large heart with 3 large dots inside it. Coin is 1804 or 1806 GEORGIUS III. What does the counterpunch mean, anyone know?
I've seen this counterstamp before, described as a merchant stamp from the West Indies. Certainly of interest and some value, though I wouldn't venture a guess on what it may be worth since it does not appear to be a documented type with a known origin.
British halfpennies of that era and type sure did get a lot of counterstamps. That's an interesting one. Like @Numismat, I don't know if it's published anywhere.
I have had two other replies. I would forward them onto you but I don't know how. Thanks heaps for your interest
Can you give me any links where I can see the counterstamp please. This is doing my head in, I can't find that stamp anywhere.
I've seen it on ebay, but it was more than a couple months ago, so I don't think I'd be able to find links now.
Thanks so much. I'm so fascinated with the coinmark. I so want to know the history and also if it's worth anything.
