Just curious as to the people in this forum. Did people buy the jefferson spouse gold coin because they foresaw value, or did they buy it for design? If you said design, did you buy any of the bronze medals?

I bought them for the first two, and would have bought them for the TJ Liberty also. However, I was concerned that the extra time to add them to my shopping cart would delay my order too much. Even without them it took me 32 minutes to get through the process.

I'll buy them the next time I order something else. My understanding is that they'll be available throughout the entire program. They should just make them available as a complete set when the program is finished so you don't have to spend $200 on shipping charges to get them.

I want to collect this series, like the designs, but the gold are too expensive to keep up with; might be able to get a few of the gold over the course of the series, but won't be able to get all of them, so will at least get a complete set of the bronze medals as they come out.

I can avoid the shipping charges completely, by just buying them from the gift shop at the Denver Mint. It's close to where I'm going to school anyway, and I get a long lunch break, so I just pick them up as they come out. If any of you live a convenient distance away from either the Denver or Philadelphia mint, I'd suggest getting them at the gift shop to save yourselves the shipping (the same for any other mint product that isn't likely to sell out quickly, like proof sets, American Eagles, commems, etc. The only time I order online is if I think the product will sell out quickly or if it's sometihng the gift shop isn't going to carry, like half dollars.)

I really don't care for the entire series. Maybe I should but don't know why. Think I'll waste my money on gas for my car.

I don't live far from Philadelphia. I get there a couple of times a year, but I had no idea the mint had a gift shop.

You reminded me that Union Station in Washington, DC also has a US Mint gift shop on the main concourse. I get there once or twice a year, also. As far as I can tell, they sell everything there, even gold eagles.

Not buying anything new these days. No problems with the mint, I just put the coin $$ elsewhere for now.

I can't think of any reason to buy a coin featuring a president's wife.

Though I do have to backtrack, as my prejudice on the subject kept me from finding out about the draped bust appearing on the Jefferson version. That's not bad. I just don't find wife portraits compelling.

If this Jefferson spouse coin were silver, I'd be in.

I bought three - I will give one each to my two kids and one for me. Regardless of value in the future I think it's a great historic piece. The mint may never use that design again so I felt this may be the only opportunity to own one that I could show off. Look forward to receiving them!

I'm waiting for Shop at home to offer them in bulk (20 in an NGC Box) graded by NGC as UNC for 20 times issues price.

Hi Invictus; I too thought as you....why would I want a Presidents wife in my collection? Then out came Jeffersons Liberty, a beautiful design and classical in its beauty....had to have one. Then I thought, I've got four daughters. Maybe this could generate some interest for them in this hobby. We'll see....

    I was hoping for a 3" version

I like it but... Why only a 1 1/2" and no 3" version of this medal?
